Description

*20/01/10*

I have literally just got off the phone to California where I have purchased this great wee van. I could write a full description but probably better to post what the previous seller wrote in her advert;

"This posting is for one Type 2 1972 VW bus. I've had this bus for a few years, three of which I actually drove it. It's been sitting in my driveway for the last year, maybe a year and a half - oh how time can get away from you!

Before I parked it in the driveway for semi-retirement I took it to my mechanic. He said it was having some transmission problems, of what nature exactly I do not know because I did not opt to have the work done. I understand that to properly work on the transmission you must pull the whole engine. With that said I am selling this bus as is. At last check the engine had roughly 113,000 miles on it.

The body of the bus is in pretty darn good shape. There is minimal rust. The one unfortunate thing is there is some gold spray-paint graffiti on the driver's side. It says "E + M". That's it. The inside has a sink and water tank, medicine cabinet with mirror, small closet, small set of drawers, overhead compartment. There is a bench seat in the back that seats three and folds down to allow you to fold out the bed. Curtains are handmade =)"

So once here I will have a look at whats wrong with the gearbox, might be something as simple as the flywheel oil seal or clutch given that the van was driven to and from a garage and post a report of condition once I have inspected it for myself.

Hope to have this here by the start of May so check back if interested or email me and I will keep you updated on the ETA.

Dave.

*UPDATE 21/04/10*

This van is now here and wow! This is possibly the nicest van we have ever imported.

The van is solid, complete, has a huge amount of service history and it has clearly been very loved when in California as everything is labeled and the top drawer has a file of camping recipies.

In the glove box is a pile of maps, a log of Charlie's (the name the last owner gave the van) travels, a notebook of fill-ups, oil changes and misc repairs.

Now that it is here I can see that its not a westfalia conversion but the furniture is very high quality and the bed is full width.

Water tank, sink, chest of drawers and table, its all there and ready to camp in.

Please have a look at the pictures and see just how great this van is.

If you have any more questions, please get in touch.

Not MOT'd yet as its just here so the price shown is for the van as you see it here, un-registered or MOT'd.
